Pakistan and Sri Lanka go way back into history when it comes to relationship ties. Over the years, both countries have developed an understanding relationship with one another through the trade of commerce, culture, and military aspects. Recently, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, had visited Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo. This was a very strenuous visit since he was only there for 2 days to discuss the future of both the countries and to mainly focus on the increasing trades among the countries and convince the other countries to invest in the evergreen Pakistan. Sri Lanka and Pakistan both have a deeply rooted history since they both enjoy their cordial relations based on mutual respect, trust and close cooperation. This diplomatic relationship has been established since 1948.

If you are still looking for that one person who will change your life, take a look in the mirror.

Since the Covid-19 had spread widely throughout the globe last year, it affected the political-trade relations among many countries and the nations which wanted to strengthen their ties with the other states. The Covid-19 cases started to decrease and many countries started to open their travel borders for the people as well as the trade segment, likewise, we are discussing Sri Lanka and Pakistan’s tie, The Pakistani prime minister did not just come alone but brought along the foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Both the political leaders brought along a strategic proposal from Islamabad which is a multi-billion dollar worthy proposal. The proposal is to lock the strategic investment in the China-Pakistan-Economic Corridor (CPEC) which is the flagship project of Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The visit offered to build regular consultations in the areas which were identified recently in the foreign-level-bilateral political consultations. Imran Khan during his visit to Sri Lanka announced scholarship program in the field of medical science (MBBS and BDS) as a part of the Sri Lanka-Pakistan higher education cooperation curriculum. India on the other hand during these difficult times India did not leave a stone unturned to isolate Pakistan internationally and regionally but still Pakistan aimed to strengthen the cooperation, especially in defense and trade. One of the foreign ministers of Sri Lanka quoted a candid statement “The visit featured a business investment forum, as well as a sports diplomacy initiative”. Imran Khan is one of those respectfully recognized figures in the world who made it easier for people to communicate with the rest of the world. Furthermore, his charismatic persona has won the hearts of not just Pakistani or Muslims around the globe but made the association with other countries much more feasible like in this case Sri Lanka, the island nation had not as such good ties with the last prime minister ( Nawaz Sharif) but after the glorious victory of Imran Khan in the 2018 elections, Sri Lanka was one of the few countries to congratulate the present prime minister. Mr Imran Khan did not just receive an honorary welcome ceremony on the behalf of the state’s order but instead, the people welcomed him wholeheartedly though due to the pandemic many couldn’t reach the airport.

The social forums were filled with praises which highlighted the fact that Imran Khan is a people’s person and no wonder the people of different identity call him with good names. Mr Imran Khan made every effort to promote his country in a meaningful way so that the image of Pakistan which is gloomy to many states could reform to its originality. During the trade conference Mr Imran Khan bought up the Kashmir issue but that part was canceled by Sri Lankan government since they didn’t want to discuss other region’s issues.  Pakistan also highlighted the fact that how India’s conduct even during these turbulent times, Imran khan also highlighted China’s good trade attitude and how Country is doing so well even during the pandemic crisis, and how the future of Pakistan and China seems bright for both nations. This is how Imran Khan pass out a sublime message that why Sri Lanka should invest in Pakistan and how it can be profitable for both the nations.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka share a healthy relationship, therefore the countries seem to have a good trade relationship in the future despite whatever tricks the enemies of both countries plan to do to ruin their association. Both the nations seem to know what to do even to come to maintaining foreign alliances. Sri Lanka being a divergent country offers a lot not just to its neighbouring countries but to the others who are far beyond the seas, it has a name in the globe for being one of the exotic tourist places in the world due to its breathtaking views. Looking at the current economic condition of the nation island we can easily predict that the country will prosper even more than before in the coming time despite the pandemic since it’s a country of patriotic and dedicated individuals. There are always pros and cons to many associations but it depends on the parties how they tackle their affiliation with one and another, Pakistan and Sri Lanka despite being firmly closed as trading nations should watch out for those lobbies which intent to ruin the relationship between both the countries. Imran Khan made an excellent effort to market his country while on his tour to Sri Lanka so that people can see Pakistan not as just a terrorist state but as a land of opportunities and growth for foreign bodies.
